At Salford Foodbank we don’t think anyone in our community should face going hungry. At each of our seven centres, our volunteers offer a warm welcome, friendly face and a cup of tea. We distribute over 240 emergency food parcels every week, containing three days’ nutritionally balanced food, to local people who are referred to us in crisis.
Each family has their own story – their own struggles and chain of events that have led them to the foodbank. Particularly if it’s their first visit, people walk in with apprehension, anxiety, shame and often feelings of depression. Our volunteers ensure everyone is made to feel welcome, not judged.
Alongside a food parcel we offer several extras including toiletries, sanitary items, household cleaning items, books, SIM cards and pet food.
We work alongside Salford Citizen’s Advice to ensure Foodbank visitors can access further support. A face-to-face discussion can help resolve underlying financial issues, such as benefits, debt, and housing, to reduce the need for future emergency food support.
Salford Foodbank relies on the support from our local community. Please continue to donate food items, without your support we cannot continue providing food parcels to people in crisis.
